Alums Visit White House with Galaxy

California alumni Josh Saunders and Hector Jimenez visited the White House on May 15 with their Major League Soccer club - the Los Angeles Galaxy - as President Barack Obama lauded the team for winning the 2011 MLS Cup.

Bears Prepare for Italy Tour

The land that produced four World Cup titles and some of the top talent in soccer history will welcome the Golden Bears for the second time in a decade when the California men's soccer tours Italy this summer. The Bears - who will play the under-20 teams of five Serie A clubs during their tour - will be in Italy from May 26-June 7.

Anthony Avalos Signs With Norwegian Club

Former California midfielder Anthony Avalos recently signed with SK Vard Haugesund, a professional club that plays in the Norwegian Second Division. Avalos' signing brings the number of former Bears playing professionally to 17.

Evan Sassano signed with Minnesota Stars FC of the North American Soccer League on April 3, bringing the number of former California men's soccer players in the professional ranks to 16.
