BERKELEY - Continuing a tradition of strong play by University of California student-athletes in the Southern Hemisphere, Keegan Engelbrecht led all scorers with 11 points Sunday as the Collegiate All-Americans started their New Zealand tour with a 21-15 win over Massey University, making the junior from Flower Mound, Texas, the Muscle Milk California Student-Athlete of the Week.
Engelbrecht opened the scoring with two penalty goals to get the All-Americans going, adding a first-half conversion and finishing the scoring for against Massey with another penalty kick.
Other Golden Bears on the 2008 Collegiate All-American team, which has two more matches on its tour, include forwards Eric Fry, Paul Jesseman and Joe Welch, scrumhalf Zachary Triplett and backs Colin Hawley, Dustin Muhn and Ryan Taylor.
