VANCOUVER B.C. - California beat the Thunderbirds, 41-10, Wednesday at the University of British Columbia to claim the 'World Cup' with a sweep of the two-match series, keeping the cup in Berkeley for the fourth year in a row. Wingers Blaine Scully and Dustin Muhn each scored two tries for the Golden Bears.

Sophomore fullback Anthony Lombardo started the scoring for Cal in the sixth minute when he recovered a chip kick and dotted down. Scully's first and both of Muhn's tries were added to a score by Colin Hawley, with a penalty kick from UBC to make the halftime score 24-3.

The T-Birds put together a second-half try but replacement outside center Seamus Kelly found the try zone, followed by Scully, to end the scoring with a seven-try effort that gives the Bears their 11th Cup in the past 14 seasons.

Now 21-0, the Bears stay in Vancouver one more day to take on Pacific Northwest contender Central Washington, with kickoff at 11 a.m. Thursday. Follow live scoring on Twitter.

Already in possession of the No. 2 national playoff seed, Cal waits to see whom they will play in the Round of 16 on April 17 on Marietta, Ga. UCLA and Cal Poly will vie for that slot April 3 in Los Angeles. See printable playoff bracket (pdf).
