Rugby Notches Second Win

Cal's Varsity Rugby Team wanted payback against Humboldt State Saturday and got it, winning 68-0 at Witter Field, Berkeley.

The Bears were carrying a grduge after a torrid encounter with their league rivals last year and it took only four minutes to begin exacting revenge with a try by flanker John Taylor.

The wet conditions made ball handling difficult, but Cal's frenetic scoring pace did not let up. The team scored five more tries in the first half and another five in the second. Wingers Dave Strobel and Nick Sliffe, as well as No. 8 Scott Yungling, scored two tries each.

The Bears next play touring Argentinian club San Carlos at Berkeley, Thursday, 3:00 pm.
