Head Coach Signs No. 1 Junior Gymnast for 2007 Season

BERKELEY - California men's gymnastics head coach Barry Weiner signed the No.1 junior gymnast in the country, Bryan Del Castillo, for the second consecutive year.

Del Castillo, a native of Laguna Niguel, has signed with Cal for the 2007 gymnastics season. A four-year member of the junior national team, Del Castillo finished second behind Cal freshman Kyson Bunthuwong at the 2005 VISA Championships which were held Aug. 10-12 in Indianapolis, Ind. Bunthuwong was the number one junior gymnast in the country when he signed with Cal this past summer.

Del Castillo, who has been doing gymnastics for the past 13 years and currently trains at South Coast Gymnastics, has competed in numerous national as well as international competitions, including the Junior Pan American Games in San Salvador in 2004.
