BERKELEY - After winning three events on Saturday night versus Iowa, Kyle Bunthuwong took home another title - Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week - the conference office announced Tuesday. He also netted the coveted NCAA Gymnast of the Week title. Junior Kyle Bunthuwong won three of the six events to help the No. 3 California men's gymnastics team to a 353.350-336.950 victory over Iowa on Saturday night. In three of his four events, he scored above a 15.200. He won pommel horse, parallel bars and high bar. In the only event he did not win - rings - Bunthuwong finished second. He absolutely demolished the competition on high bar with an incredible 15.600. The next nearest gymnast on h-bar scored 14.450, over a full point behind Bunthuwong, which is rare in gymnastics were tenths of a point separate first and second. If he had competed in the all-around, he would have just need 13.3 on his two missing events - floor and vault - to win the all-around. The weekly accolade Bunthuwong's third of his career and the Cal squad's third of this season.
