"I'm thrilled to rejoin the Cal gymnast family as the assistant coach," Christ said. "Competing with the team was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I'm honored to return to the program in a mentor capacity. I look forward to a season of hard work and great victories. We as a team have a lot to prove, and I strongly believe we are up to the challenge." In his four years at Cal, Christ earned All-America accolades four times. In each year he was eligible, Christ was honored as a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation scholar student-athlete. The Palm Harbor, Fla., native graduated with a degree in mathematics in 2008. "Colin loves the sport of gymnastics more than anyone I know, and he is particularly passionate about the Cal men's gymnastics program," McNeill said. "He is incredibly motivated and wants to see this program succeed more than anything. All of these attributes make him a perfect choice for the assistant coach position." At the 2008 NCAA Championships, Christ's final meet as a student-athlete, he finished eighth in the country on parallel bars with a 14.275. The 2007 individual championships saw him finish second on parallel bars after leading for the majority of the meet.
