EL PASO, Texas - Cal golfers Max Homa and Brandon Hagy completed play Tuesday at the College All-America Golf Classic at the El Paso Country Club. Homa (66-68-71 - 205, -8) tied eighth in the three-day 54-hole amateur event while Hagy (69-68-74 - 211, -2) finished 18th. Homa and Hagy are key members of a Cal team that finished the 2012 fall season as the top-ranked club in all three major national polls - Golf World/Nike Golf, Golfweek and Golfstat. After winning or sharing the title in each of its five fall events for the first time in school history, Cal is already within one victory of the school-record six events won by the 2011-12 team. Dating back through the entire 2011-12 season, Cal has won 11 of its last 19 events and finished in the top five in all 19. The Golden Bears reached the NCAA semifinals a year ago after winning their first Pac-12 Championship and NCAA Regional team titles along the way. Homa posted a 71.1 stroke average in the fall that was third on the team behind only Michael Kim and Hagy. He tied for second in each of the season's first two events at the Gopher Invitational (67-70-77 - 214, -2) and PING/Golfweek Preview (71-70-69 - 210, E), equaling the team's lowest score during both tournaments. He came up with a third top-10 fall finish by tying for seventh at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational (67-70-68 - 205, -8). Hagy's stroke average of 70.9 over the five 2012 fall events was second on the team only to Kim. Hagy's fall was highlighted with his first career victory at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational (64-62-72 - 198, -15). His tournament total and second-round nine-under par 62 at the MacKenzie were both the lowest scores by a Cal golfer during the fall. He also had a pair of other top-10 finishes, taking fourth at the Gopher Invitational (66-75-75 - 216, E) and tying for ninth at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational (73-73-73 - 219, +3). According to Golfweek, Hagy finished the fall ranked No. 11 nationally with a 69.23 rating while Homa was No. 17 at 69.50. Cal will return to action January 28-29 for the first tournament of the spring portion of its 2012-13 schedule with the Arizona Intercollegiate at Arizona National in Tucson.
