BERKELEY - Michael Kim has been named the California Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor for the first time in his career after leading No. 1 Cal to a convincing 13-stroke win Friday-Sunday at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters that included 12 of the nation's top 13 teams according to Golfstat. Kim finished in a four-way tie for the lead at the end of 54 holes of regulation before Stanford's Patrick Rodgers won the playoff on the first extra hole with a birdie on 18. Kim (76-67-69 - 212, -4) rebounded from an opening-round four-over par 76 by playing a tournament-best eight-under par over his final two rounds to move back into the No. 1 spot in Golfweek's national rankings after the performance. He has won at least a share of individual medalist honors in four of his last five events, with the four victories a school record. Kim has also finished in the top 10 in all nine of his events and leads Cal with a 69.93 stroke average in 2012-13. Cal has posted a school-record eight victories in nine tournaments this season.
