April 8, 1997 Cal Finishes Second at Western IntercollegiateSANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The California men's golf team finished in second place at the 51st annual Western Intercollegiate. The Bears shot a team score of 879, which was nine strokes behind champion Ohio State. The top golfer for Cal was sophomore Jay Berkowitz, who shot a 214 with a low round of 67. Berkowitz placed second overall in the individual standings. Also playing well for the Bears was freshman Dan Arroyo, who shot a 222 to finish 17th overall.
