MOBILE, Ala. - Former Cal player offensive lineman Brian Schwenke accepted an invitation to play in the 2013 Senior Bowl, game officials announced Wednesday. Schwenke joins cornerback Marc Anthony, who accepted an invitation to play in the 2013 game earlier this month, to become the 34th and 35th Cal players to be selected to participate in the event. The 64th version of the annual contest that showcases college football's top seniors is scheduled to be played at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala., on Saturday, Jan. 26 (3 p.m. CT/1 p.m. PT). NFL Network will televise the game and also beginning Monday, Jan. 21, will provide coverage of all practices leading up to the contest. Schwenke earned first-team All-Pac-12 honors and was one of only five players to start each of the team's 12 games in 2012, while adding the team's Brick Muller Award as the team's Most Valuable Lineman on offense and a Cort Majors Team Captain Award also on the offensive side of the ball. He finished his career with 48 games played out of a possible 50 and also started 36 contests over his four seasons with the Bears. The Senior Bowl is the nation's most unique football game and football's premier pre-draft event, annually featuring the country's best senior collegiate football stars and top NFL draft prospects on teams representing the North and South which are coached by the entire coaching staffs from two National Football League teams. Senior Bowl practices are also attended by over 800 general managers, head coaches, assistant coaches, scouts and other front office personnel from the 32 National Football League teams, making Mobile and the Senior Bowl the week-long host to a one-of-a-kind NFL Coaches Convention. Tickets are on sale and can be purchased at the Senior Bowl offices at 151 Dauphin St. during business hours, online at seniorbowl.com or by calling 888-736-BOWL. Tickets are also available at Food For Less stores, where ticket purchasers will also get a free pass to the Food For Less Tailgate Party with their ticket purchase.
