Dec. 15, 2010 BERKELEY - Work to renovate and retrofit Memorial Stadium is well underway, with crews in the process of removing bleachers and turf - both of which will be reused or recycled - as well as demolishing the old restrooms, concession stands and locker rooms. Construction fences are up around the stadium and the facility is off limits to all, including local fitness enthusiasts whose workouts included running the bleachers. Work officially began just three days after the final Cal football game vs. Washington on Nov. 27. CalBears.com will periodically provide updates on the stadium's progress as construction takes shape. For more information, fans can also visit stadium.berkeley.edu or go to calesp.com to read about how to participate in the Endowment Seating Program. The Golden Bears will play their five-game 2011 home schedule at San Francisco's AT&T Park (see calfootballsf.com. Cal also has a neutral-site game scheduled in the Bay Area vs. Fresno State at Candlestick Park on Sept. 3.
