WALNUT CREEK - Seven Cal student-athletes were selected to the 2012 Pac-12 Conference Football All-Academic teams announced Tuesday by Commissioner Larry Scott. Chris Adcock (3.57 GPA, Business Administration) and Matt Summers-Gavin (3.27 GPA, Political Science) led the way with first-team selections.
Tyré Ellison (3.01 GPA, Social Welfare) was a second-team pick, while honorable mention recognition was garnered by Todd Barr (3.05 GPA, Undeclared), Mike Manuel (3.01 GPA, American Studies), Robert Mullins (3.04 GPA, Sociology) and Brennan Scarlett (3.04 GPA, Undeclared).
Summers-Gavin was a member of the conference's all-academic teams for the fourth time in his collegiate career, previously earning second-team honors as a freshman and junior, while being an honorable mention choice in his sophomore campaign. All others were honored by the conference for their academic achievements for the first time in their careers.
To be eligible for selection to the Pac-12's academic teams, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
