BERKELEY - Cal and Nevada have scheduled three upcoming football games, the schools announced Thursday. The Golden Bears will travel to Nevada for a game on Sept. 18, 2010, and the Wolf Pack will visit Berkeley twice in future years. Dates for the two scheduled games in Berkeley will be announced at a later date.
"We're pleased to be able to renew a series competing against a quality opponent such as Nevada," said Cal Director of Athletics Sandy Barbour. "Both schools have quality football programs, and our proximity to each other is sure to draw great fan interest and produce an exciting series of games."
Cal holds a 29-2-1 all-time lead in the series but the teams have played only once since 1945. Cal won that meeting at Memorial Stadium in Berkeley, 33-15, on Sept. 21, 1996.
The addition of the game vs. Nevada completes Cal's schedule for the 2010 season. In addition to visiting Nevada, the Golden Bears will host UC Davis (Sept. 4) and Colorado (Sept. 11) in their other two non-conference games. Among Cal's future non-conference opponents past the 2010 season are Colorado (away in 2011), Ohio State (away in 2012, home in 2013), Northwestern (home in 2013, away in 2014) and Texas (away in 2015, home in 2016).
