ATLANTA - Cal DB Syd'Quan Thompson was honored Sunday by the College Football Performance Awards as one of the CFPA's Defensive Back Honorable Mention Performers of the Week for his performance in Cal's 31-14 home defeat Saturday at the hands of Oregon State at Memorial Stadium in Berkeley.

Thompson equaled a season-best with eight tackles in the contest and also had a career-high-tying 3.0 tackles for loss and one pass breakup. The breakup was the 33rd of his career and moved him into sole possession of second place on Cal's all-time list.

Thompson was honored by the CFPA for the first time in his career and is the sixth Cal player to be honored by the organization in 2009. Others include P Bryan Anger, TB Jahvid Best, QB Kevin Riley, WR/RET Jeremy Ross and TB Shane Vereen.

Cal (6-3, 3-3 Pac-10) will play its final home game of the 2009 season at Memorial Stadium against Arizona (6-2, 4-1 Pac-10) this Saturday, Nov. 14 (4:00 p.m. PT). Versus will televise the contest nationally.
