BERKELEY - Shane Vereen set new career-highs for both rushing yards and all-purpose running yards, picking up 154 of his 230 all-purpose yards on the ground on 17 carries on Saturday against UCLA, making the sophomore tailback the Muscle Milk California Student-Athlete of the Week. He added 20 yards on two receptions, while also bringing back two kicks for 46 yards and two punts for 10. Vereen scored the game's opening touchdown on a 42-yard sprint in the first quarter. He also had another 40-yard rush. For his performance over the weekend, Vereen earned honorable mention for Running Back of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards.
