BERKELEY - Last Saturday at the Cal-Arizona State football game, Cal Athletics held their first Season Ticket Holder Appreciation Day for Football. The goal was to reward and express Cal's appreciation to all of the 2012 Football Season Ticket Holders in this first season back in renovated Memorial Stadium.

The day started off with many pregame surprises for season ticket holders. Upon entering the gates, 50 Bear Backer Hospitality passes were distributed to season ticket holders for the event taking place on Lisa and Douglas Goldman Plaza where food and beverages were served. 100 season ticket holders were also instantly upgraded by one of our sales/service team members from their current season ticket location to the Field Club to enjoy all the perks of premium seats for the game. Cal also upgraded 100 more season ticket holders from their current season ticket location to the Stadium Club.

Once the game started, season ticket holders were surprised in their seats with various prizes. Season ticket holder Dawn Riordan won the "Oski Experience." Oski will attend an event of her choice - a birthday party, anniversary, or a Cal gathering. John Darter won two women's basketball courtside seats for a Pac-12 conference game. Other cool items fans won were - a signed Jeff Tedford helmet, signed Cal football gloves and cleats, 1,000 Oakland Airport gift certificates, 25 $5 gift cards to Peet's Coffee, and two $25 gift cards to Pyramid Brewery.

Cal also made sure some of our season ticket holders received on-field recognition. The season ticket holders of the game were Jim Keith and Irma Valencia, who have been season ticket holders for the past eight years and are lifelong Cal fans. As part of being STH of the Game, they got pregame field passes and were upgraded to Stadium Club. During the break after the third quarter, Gary Stafford got to attempt a field goal on the south end to try and win free season tickets in Stadium Club for the 2013 football season. Unfortunately, he missed, but still won two Stadium Club seats for Cal's game against Oregon on Nov. 10.

"Overall the event was a huge success," said Kevin Holman, Director of Customer Relations. "We really just wanted to show our season ticket holders that we value them and we wanted to provide an experience that goes above and beyond just attending the game."
