BERKELEY - The 2012 NFL season will close out its third week when Green Bay visits Seattle on Monday Night Football with five former Cal players (Green Bay - Desmond Bishop, Aaron Rodgers; Seattle - Marshawn Lynch, Brandon Mebane, Cameron Morrah) on those two rosters. Here's a look at what's going on with each of the 29 former Cal players currently on NFL rosters. The Golden Bears rank second among all Pac-12 schools with the 29 players on NFL rosters and are tied for ninth with 25 of those 29 on active 53-player rosters (four are on injured reserve or physically unable to perform lists). Some of the highlights from the first three weeks of the season include the performances of Jacksonville punter Bryan Anger (second in punting), Atlanta safety Thomas DeCoud (tied for second in interceptions), Atlanta tight end Tony Gonzalez (tied for third in TD catches; tied for sixth in receptions), and Seattle running back Marshawn Lynch (NFC leader and third in the NFL in rushing after first two weeks). Lorenzo Alexander, LB, Washington Redskins (1-2) - Has played in all three for the team's games off the bench, contributing four tackles with three of them coming in a Week 2 loss at St. Louis and the fourth in a Week 3 loss to Cincinnati Tyson Alualu, DT, Jacksonville Jaguars (1-2) - Has 12 tackles and 1.0 sack while starting each of the team's first three games, with a season-high six in a Week 2 loss to Houston, four and 1.0 sack in a Week 1 loss at Minnesota and 2 in a Week 3 win at Indianapolis Bryan Anger, P, Jacksonville Jaguars (1-2) - Second in the NFL in punting after three games with a 52.9 yard average, punting 19 times for 1,005 yards with single-game averages of 53.5 twice in a Week 3 win at Indianapolis and a Week 1 loss at Minnesota, and a 52.2 yards per punt on nine punts in a Week 2 loss vs. Houston ... also had a then-career-long 60-yarder against the Texans that he beat with a career-long 66-yarder at Indianapolis ... has pinned opponents inside their own 20-yardline five times, including three vs. Houston, and forced fair catches Nnamdi Asomugha, CB, Philadelphia Eagles (2-1) - Has five tackles and three passes defended in three starts, with three of the tackles coming in a Week three loss at Arizona and all three passes defended in a Week 1 win at Cleveland Jahvid Best, RB, Detroit Lions (1-2) - Has not played in the team's first three games ... started the season on the physically unable to participate (PUP) list but expected to return to the field when he's eligible to be removed from the list after the first six weeks of the season Desmond Bishop, LB, Green Bay Packers (1-1) - Has not played in the team's first two games and is on the injured reserve list D.J. Campbell, S, Carolina Panthers (1-2) - Has not played in the team's first three games Chris Conte, S, Chicago Bears (2-1) - Has 11 tackles, one interception that he returned for 35 yards and two passes defended with starting each of the team's first three games ... posted his interception against Indianapolis and former Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck in the season opener Brian De La Puente, OG, New Orleans Saints (0-3) - Has started all three games Thomas DeCoud, S, Atlanta Falcons (3-0) - Had a huge game in a Week 3 win at San Diego with two interceptions and a fumble recovery to go along with three tackles ... has started all three games and posted 15 tackles, four passes defended and three interceptions (tied for second in NFL) that he has returned 13 yards on the season, adding an interception that he returned 15 yards in Week 2 win vs. Denver while posting a season-high seven tackles in a Week 1 win at Kansas City Justin Forsett, RB, Houston Texans (3-0) - Has played in all three games off the bench, rushing six times for 35 yards all in a Week 2 win at Jacksonville Scott Fujita, LB, Cleveland Browns (0-3) - Has played in two games with one starts with four tackles, all coming in his season debut in a starting role during a Week 2 loss at Cincinnati Matt Giordano, S, Oakland Raiders (1-2) - Had a strong game in his first start of the season in a Week 3 win over Pittsburgh with a season-high seven tackles Tony Gonzalez, TE, Atlanta Falcons (3-0) - Has started all three games in his 16th NFL campaign and posted 21 receptions (T6th NFL) for 214 yards and three touchdown catches (T3rd NFL) ... had season highs of nine catches and 91 receiving yards with a touchdown reception for the third consecutive game in his most recent contest during a Week 3 win at San Diego ... has career totals of 1,170 receptions for 13,552 yards and 98 touchdowns in 241 games and has only missed three contests in his 16th NFL campaign Lavelle Hawkins, WR, Tennessee Titans (1-2) - Has two catches for eight yards and has played in two of the team's first three games, with all of the stats coming in a Week 1 loss vs. New England DeSean Jackson, WR, Philadelphia Eagles (2-1) - Has 14 catches for 234 yards and an average of 16.7 yards per catch, including season bests of seven catches for 114 yards in a Week 2 win vs. Baltimore Marvin Jones, WR, Cincinnati Bengals (2-1) - Played in each of the team's first two games before not playing in a Week 3 win at Washington ... has not recorded any statistics Cameron Jordan, DE, New Orleans Saints (0-3) - Has 20 tackles and 1.0 sacks in the first three games, including a career-high and game-high 11 stops in a Week 1 loss to Washington Mychal Kendricks, LB, Philadelphia Eagles (2-1) - Has started each of the first three games and compiled 16 tackles and two passes defended, with a career best six tackles in a Week 3 loss at Arizona and both passes defended in a Week 2 win against Baltimore L.P.
