Allen is a preseason All-American and national honors candidate in 2012 who has already received numerous honors prior to the campaign, including second-team (Athlon, Lindy's) and third-team (Phil Steele) All-American honors. He was also previously a first-team preseason All-Pac-12 choice of all three. Last year, Allen had 98 receptions for 1,343 receiving yards and six touchdown catches, with the receptions and receiving yards both ranking second on Cal's all-time single season lists behind school record holders Dameane Douglas (100 receptions in 1998) and Geoff McArthur (1,504 receiving yards in 2003).
Summers-Gavin was also a first-team preseason All-Pac-12 choice of Phil Steele, while Athlon selected him to his second team and Lindy's its' third-team. He Started all 13 of the team's games at right tackle in 2011, protecting the back side of lefthanded starting quarterback Zach Maynard, to earn third-team All-Pac-12 honors by Phil Steele, while the league's coaches gave him honorable mention All-Conference honors. He has played in 32 games in his career with 25 starts to lead the team's active offensive linemen.
