June 20, 2007 Berkeley - Heralded as "America's Sports Bible" for more than 60 years, Street & Smith's Sports Annuals has announced the publication of its Street & Smith's College Football 2007 Yearbook, and in the featured issue, the University of California football team is ranked No. 11 in its preseason top 25 poll. Also in the publication, junior wide receiver and Heisman Trophy candidate DeSean Jackson was selected as a first-team All-American, while teammate, junior center Alex Mack, was a third-team All-America choice. Street & Smith's also tabbed Jackson, Mack, tight end Craig Stevens and punter Andrew Larson as all-conference selections. For the magazine's 2007 preview issues, Street & Smith's opted for a "throwback" look to its covers, photographing its cover subjects in old-fashioned football poses without face masks - similar to the look of the magazine in the mid-1960s. Jackson is one of the cover subjects in the old-school pose. Along with in-depth Division I-A team profiles, the magazine includes every team's schedule and projected starters for 105 of the 120 teams. In addition, the yearbook dedicates 18 pages of overviews along with predictions for each of the 15 Division I-AA conferences, as well as a preseason top 25 and All-America team. The Golden Bears have received plenty of national exposure this off-season and are ranked in the top 25 by several other national outlets, including ESPN, who had the Bears at No. 9 to start the season. California opens the 2007 season on Saturday, Sept. 1, hosting Tennessee at Memorial Stadium in a 5 p.m. contest.
