(BERKELEY) - Cal has completed its football schedule for the 2011 season with the announcement Thursday of opponents for two open dates on the Golden Bears' slate.
The Bears will travel to new Pac-12 foe Colorado for a non-conference game on Saturday, Sept. 10, to conclude a home-and-home series with the Buffaloes. The teams played during the 2010 season at Memorial Stadium, with Cal winning, 52-7, to improve its series lead to 3-2.
Cal will then host Presbyterian, a member of the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Big South Conference on Saturday, Sept. 17, in the first of five home games scheduled for San Francisco's AT&T Park. The teams will be meeting for the first time.
Television broadcast information and start times for both contests will be announced at a later date.
"It's good to have our schedule for 2011 wrapped up," said head coach Jeff Tedford. "A lot of work by a lot of people went into getting this schedule completed, and I am thankful for their efforts."
"We are pleased to have filled the remaining open dates in our schedule for the 2011 football season," said Deputy Director of Athletics Steve Holton. "The scheduling process was complicated with the changes brought about by the conference expanding to 12 teams and the limited dates available at AT&T Park due to the San Francisco Giants' schedule, but we're happy we can announce that the schedule is now complete."
Prior to playing the two contests announced Thursday, Cal will open its 2011 season with a non-conference, neutral-site game against Fresno State at Candlestick Park in San Francisco on Saturday, Sept. 3.
Cal's nine contests in the newly realigned Pac-12 include matchups with fellow North Division members Oregon, Oregon State, Stanford, Washington and Washington State, as well as South Division schools Arizona State, UCLA, USC and Utah. The Bears will not play South Division member Arizona in 2011 and its contest against Colorado will be a non-conference event. Colorado and Utah will join the conference on July 1, 2011.
Cal will play its first two Pac-12 games in 2011 on the road at Washington on Saturday, Sept. 24 and at Oregon for a nationally-televised ESPN game on Thursday, Oct. 6.
The Bears will then make their conference home debut at AT&T Park in another nationally-televised ESPN game against USC the following Thursday, Oct. 13. Cal will also host Utah at the venue on Saturday, Oct. 22.
Cal then hits the road to take on UCLA at The Rose Bowl on Saturday, Oct. 29, before returning to AT&T Park to conclude its regular-season home schedule the following two Saturdays with back-to-back home contests against Washington State (Nov. 5) and Oregon State (Nov. 12).
The Bears play their final two games of the 2011 regular season on the road with the 114th Big Game at Stanford (Saturday, Nov. 19) and the regular-season finale at Arizona State (Saturday, Nov. 26).
The 2011 season ticket package is for the five home games at AT&T Park. Fans will have the opportunity to purchase tickets for Cal vs. Fresno State and road games at a later date.
After playing the last 88 seasons and every home game at Memorial Stadium since the facility opened for the 1923 Big Game, Cal will host its home games outside of Berkeley for the first time while Memorial Stadium undergoes an extensive renovation and retrofit. The Bears will return to Memorial Stadium for their 2012 home schedule.
Season tickets for 2011 go on sale to the general public Monday, Apr. 25, if available. Purchase your tickets online at CalFootballSF.com or by calling (800) GO BEARS.
