INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The first workout sessions for the 2013 NFL Combine at Lucas Oil Field are scheduled for Friday and former Cal offensive lineman Brian Schwenke will be involved, taking part in the bench press before moving on to his on-field workouts and additional measurable drills Saturday. TB C.J. Anderson's first workout is Saturday, while cornerbacks Marc Anthony and Steve Williams start their workouts Monday. WR Keenan Allen is scheduled to arrive at the combine on Thursday but will not go through the workouts or measurable skills tests portions of the event due to a knee injury, his agent announced Wednesday. Allen is scheduled to participate in other activities at the event. Each player will be put through a similar four-day schedule at the combine for personnel from all 32 NFL teams, including head coaches, general managers and scouts. The combine is one of the key tools used in preparation for the 2013 NFL Draft, which will take place at Radio City Music Hall in New York City Thursday-Saturday, April 25-27. On their day of arrival in Indianapolis, players register before going through orientation, hospital pre-exam and x-rays and team interviews. The second day includes more additional team interviews, media interviews, measurements and medical examinations. Day three consists of the bench press to begin the measurable drills testing, as well as psychological testing, an NFL Players Association meeting and more team interviews. On the fourth and final day, players will be timed in the 40-yard dash, 20 and 60-yard shuttles, the 3-cone drill, while also being measured in the broad jump and vertical jump in addition to going through positional work. Players arrive at the combine staggered by position groups beginning Wednesday with the placekickers, specialists, offensive linemen and tight ends. Thursday arrivals include quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers. Defensive linemen and linebackers check in on Friday, while defensive backs start Saturday.
