Golden Bears look to start conference competition with a victory

Jon Farmerie is in his first season at Cal in 2012 as a graduate assistant on the defensive side of the ball working primarily with the team's defensive backs. Farmerie, who stepped into his role in the spring of 2012, also manages opponent game film breakdowns, generates opponent scouting reports, facilitates opponent scout teams and assists the defensive staff in game preparation.

Prior to joining the Cal football program, Farmerie was an assistant coach at Colony High School in the Southern California city of Ontario during the 2010 campaign. He served as the special teams coordinator and coached the safeties, while also assisting the defensive coordinator. In addition, he was involved with the strength and conditioning program.

Farmerie received a bachelor's degree in movement and sport science from La Verne in May of 2008 as well as a master's degree in education with a special emphasis in physical education from the same school in May of 2010. He served for two seasons as a graduate assistant at La Verne in 2008 and 2009, while also adding strength and conditioning duties to his role for just over a year between June 2008 and July 2009.
