BERKELEY - Three seniors on Cal's Pac-10 runner-up varsity eight have earned all-conference honors for 2004 - Robert Austerman, Jesse Bauman and Max Frasca.

The Bears finished second in the team competition at the Pac-10 regatta May 16 on Lake Natoma near Sacramento.

In the varsity eight race, Cal built a quick lead on Washington in the first 500 meters and held the advantage through 1500 meters. But the Huskies made their move near the finish and crossed the line three seconds ahead of the Bears.

Austerman served as team co-captain this past season, while Bauman and Frasca both competed in the varsity boat for the first time in 2004. In addition, both Bauman and Frasca were selected to the Pac-10 All-Academic squad this year.
