Cal Oarsmen to Compete at World Championships
BERKELEY, Calif. - A pair of oarsmen from Cal's varsity crew will be in the spotlight this coming week at the World Rowing Championships in Aiguebelette, France. The regatta will begin August 31 and run through September 7.
Rowing for the U.S. Eight will be junior Sebastian Bea (6-6, 210), a graduate of St. Ignatius HS in San Francisco who helped Cal to a national third place finish last spring.
Another member of that Cal varsity eight is Djordje Visacki (6-6, 205), who will be competing this week in the Pair-with-coxswain competition in France. Visacki has been in Cal's varsity boat the past two years and originally hails from Belgrade, Yugoslavia.
Both oarsmen will return to fall classes in Berkeley, immediately after the conclusion of the World Championships.
