BERKELEY - Kennedy Winston, a 6-7, 190-pound wing player from Blount High School in Pritchard, Ala., who is considered one of the Top 30 prospects in the country, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball at Cal, Golden Bear head coach Ben Braun announced Monday night.

Kennedy, who is rated the No. 23 recruit in the country by The Sporting News, averaged 25.3 ppg and 8.6 rpg as a junior last season. He is also ranked the No. 6 shooting guard and No. 29 overall recruit by ESPN.com and No. 23 overall by CNNSI.com. Kennedy chose Cal after considering Alabama, Auburn and Cincinnati.

Kennedy is the third player to sign with the Bears this fall, joining Modesto Christian High teammates Richard Midgley and David Paris, who are both considered Top 100 prospects. Midgley, a 6-2 guard, and Paris, a 6-8 power forward and son of former San Francisco 49er lineman Bubba Paris, helped Modesto Christian to a runner-up finish in the state tournament last spring.
