Oct. 15, 2012
BERKELEY - The California men's and women's basketball programs will showcase their 2012-13 teams to fans on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 11 a.m. on Lisa and Douglas Goldman Plaza prior to the Big Game between Cal and Stanford inside Memorial Stadium. Head men's basketball coach Mike Montgomery and head women basketball coach Lindsay Gottlieb will bring their teams to perform an exhibition, with various interactive activities planned. A basketball court will be constructed on the surface and both Golden Bear squads will take part in a shoot-around and half-court shooting contest among other drills. The voice of the Golden Bear men's basketball team, Roxy Bernstein, will be on hand to introduce each squad, and both teams will be giving away autographed merchandise and interacting with fans throughout their exhibition. Attendees will have the opportunity to win tickets to the first men's and first women's basketball home game of the season at Haas Pavilion. Fans will also be eligible to take a half-court shot to win Stadium Club seats for Cal's football game against Washington on Nov. 2. The event will run until approximately 11:45 a.m. to allow fans enough time to get inside Memorial Stadium for kickoff of the 115th Big Game at noon. The basketball court on Lisa and Douglas Goldman Plaza will be located inside the Memorial Stadium gates and fans must have a ticket to the Big Game to access the event. Fans are encouraged to arrive early as space around the court is limited. For more information and directions to Lisa and Douglas Goldman Plaza, click here.
