March 22, 2007 BERKELEY - Senior guard Alex Pribble, who sports a 3.32 GPA as a sociology major, has been named to the Pac-10 All-Academic first team for the second consecutive year, becoming just the third Golden Bear to receive the honor twice. Pribble earned second-team Pac-10 All-Academic notice after is sophomore season in 2004-05, and he was voted to the first team last year. The only other Cal men's basketball players to claim first-team status two times are Amit Tamir (2003 and 2004) and Dennis Gates (2001 and 2002). Overall, Cal players have been chosen Pac-10 All-Academic 14 times since 2000, with at least one player earning recognition each of the past eight seasons. Pribble played in 29 games during the 2006-07 campaign with eight starts, including the final five contests, and averaged 0.7 ppg and 1.3 rpg. He scored a high of four points vs. Washington State and also picked off a career-best four steals against USC at home. To be eligible for selection to the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor. 2006-07 Pac-10 All-Academic Men's Basketball Team
