WALNUT CREEK - California junior guard Justin Cobbs was named the Pac-12 Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. The selection marks the third-straight week a Golden Bear has received the honor. Cobbs led Cal (18-9, 10-5 Pac-12) to a pair of big road wins this past week at No. 23 Oregon and Oregon State to extend the Golden Bears' winning streak to five games. He hit the game-winning shot with seven-tenths of a second left to give Cal the 48-46 road victory over No. 23 Oregon. Highlighted by his game-winning shot, Cobbs had 14 overall points, eight rebounds, seven assists and a block in the win over the Ducks. In Saturday's 60-59 win over Oregon State in Corvallis, Cobbs poured in a game-high 18 points. He recorded the Bears' final five points, scoring on a three-pointer and a jumper over the final 2:49 in Cal's one-point win. The junior had 12 assists in the two games, including seven in the win at No. 23 Oregon. He shot nearly 50 percent (13-of-27) for the week and was 2-of-6 on three-pointers. The junior played all but five minutes total out of 80 in the two games, logging 38 in the win at No. 23 Oregon and 37 in the victory at Oregon State. The Pac-12 Player of the Week honor is his second of the season and third of Cobbs' career. It is the third-straight time and fourth overall this season a Golden Bear has been recognized by the league after fellow junior guard Allen Crabbe was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week each of the last two weeks. Eyeing its second Pac-12 regular-season championship in the last four years, Cal plays its final three games at home against Utah (Thursday, Feb. 28 at 6 p.m. PT), Colorado (Saturday, March 2 at 2 p.m. PT) and Stanford (Wednesday, March 6 at 8 p.m. PT).
