BERKELEY -

To help commemorate the 100th season of California basketball this year, the Golden Bears will host an alumni game on Friday, Feb. 13. The event, which will be held in Haas Pavilion and will start at 7 p.m., is free and open to the public.

More than 20 former Cal players have committed to participating in the game, including Brian Hendrick, who was inducted into the Cal Athletic Hall of Fame this past fall. The list of Bears returning to Berkeley also contains 1,000-point scorers Lamond Murray, Monty Buckley, Randy Duck and Roy Fisher, all-time shot-blocker Michael Stewart, and Dan Lufkin, who played from 1963-64 and will be the oldest to suit up.

The contest will consist of two 15-minute halves with a 15-minute halftime break. In addition to the players in the game, many other basketball alumni are also expected to be present.

Former Cal head coach Dick Kuchen will coach one of the teams, while John and Rupe Ricksen, both members of the Cal Athletic Hall of Fame, will coach the other squad. Kuchen guided the Bear program from 1979-85. The Ricksens were members of the basketball team from 1951-53. John earned all-conference honors as a senior, and Rupe served as an assistant coach from 1957-59.

The alumni game is part of a weekend of festivities celebrating the Bears' 100th season, as well as the 50th anniversary of the 1959 NCAA championship. During the Cal-Stanford game the next afternoon, players from different eras will be introduced to the crowd at each time out, while the halftime program will honor the 1959 squad and feature the jersey retirement of All-American and Olympic gold medalist Darrall Imhoff.

The Cal-Stanford game tips off at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14. Tickets are available online through the tickets link at CalBears.com or by calling the Cal Athletic Ticket Office at (800) GO BEARS.
