ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Freshman Ryan Anderson scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as California raced past Hawaii 72-56 Friday in the semifinals of the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout.

Anderson led four Golden Bears in double figures as Cal (4-1) overpowered the Rainbow Warriors (3-2) inside and outside. Ayinde Ubaka had 12 points, DeVon Hardin 11 and Omar Wilkes 10.

Hawaii led twice briefly in the opening minutes before Cal went on a 14-0 tear, including six straight points by Wilkes on a variety of flashy drives off fast breaks. Hawaii whittled a 12-point deficit in half before Cal went on 16-5 run and ended up with a 37-24 lead at intermission.

In the second half, Hawaii five times managed to get the deficit down to single digits, but each time Cal pulled away.

Ahmet Gueye led Hawaii with 14 points while Dominic Waters and Todd Follmer added 10 apiece. Matt Lojeski had seven points and 10 assists.
