Recap |  Box Score |  Notes

California head coach Ben Braun

Opening remarks:
"We had a big run in the first half that was predicated by our defense. Our guys had energy and it was good to see guys come off the bench and give us a lift. Taylor Harrison came out and gave us tremendous energy. Eric Vierneisel and Jerome Randle also gave us a boost of energy. We have a couple of guys playing a lot of minutes and we need that support. Those guys enabled these guys [Ryan Anderson, Ayinde Ubaka] to get some rest and, as a result, they had a pretty good game."

On UCLA:
"We are playing against the top team in our league and one of the best teams in the country. We played UCLA tough, we had them at their place with a lead in the first half and then it slipped. We are going to have to play good basketball to beat UCLA and we are capable. They are a very solid team, they rebound well and they got some rest. Our guys are coming off a solid game and this is a good chance to catch them, but they are a great team."

Freshman center Ryan Anderson

On his role in tonight's game:
"For me, I just need to do whatever I can and give my best effort every time. I may not score that many points, but I am out there and I am going to be ready to score when the ball comes to me. And I am certainly going to play defense and rebound."
