STANFORD, Calif. (AP) - Junior Allen Crabbe and sophomore David Kravish each scored 14 points to lead the California men's basketball team, but the Golden Bears fell short at Stanford, 69-59, Saturday afternoon inside Maples Pavilion.
Dwight Powell scored 17 points and Chasson Randle added 15 in helping Stanford to the victory.
John Gage added 14 points for the Cardinal (11-7, 2-3 Pac-12), who had lost three of their previous four. Josh Huestis had 12 rebounds to go with nine points.Justin Cobbs scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half as the Bears (10-7, 2-3 Pac-12 tried to cut into the Cardinal eight-point halftime advantage (37-29).
California drew within 43-42 with 13:20 left to play on a Crabbe jumper but the Cardinal eventually rebuilt its lead to 10 points.
Gage hit one of his three 3-pointers with 7:07 remaining to play in the first half to put the Cardinal ahead.
Crabbe, the Pac-12's leading scorer, was limited to four shots in the first half.
Kravish recorded 10 of his season-high tying 14 points in the first half.
Junior Richard Solomon collected three blocks to give him nine swats in the last two games.
