High School: Gutierrez averaged 13.4 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 2.7 spg and 2.6 apg for Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nev., as a senior ... named MVP at the National Prep School Invitational in Rhode Island when he poured in 17.5 ppg, shot 83.4 percent from the floor (15-for-18) and defended four different positions, helping his team to a runner-up finish ... previous winners of the award have included Kansas State All-American Michael Beasley (2007) and Dorell Wright (2004), now with the NBA's Miami Heat ... prior to attending Findlay, Gutierrez played at Lincoln High School in Denver for two seasons ... in 2006-07, averaged 20.3 ppg and 3.7 rpg, shooting 61.4 percent from the floor (153-249), 61.5 percent from three-point range (16-26) and 74.9 percent from the free throw line (134-179) ... a year earlier, led the Lancers to the Colorado state championship and earned tournament MVP honors ... contributed 22.5 ppg and 6.0 rpg on 58.8 percent field goal shooting (163-277) over the course of the campaign.
