Grigsby made a remarkable recovery from a series of injuries that essentially kept him sidelined for three seasons to become Cal's leading rebounder in 1996-97 ... granted a rare sixth-year of eligibility by the NCAA last August ... received a medical hardship waiver following the 1993-94 seasons after playing in only three games due to a hamstring injury ... was able to play in just 12 games in 1994-95 and underwent surgery in February 1995 for a bulging disk in his lower back ... played in only 4 games in 1995-96 with a recurrence of the same injury ... finally returned at full strength in 1996-97 ... had his No. 4 jersey retired before Cal's game against Arizona State March 6, 1997 ... finished his career second on Cal's all-time field goal shooting list at 56.1 percent ... was a three-time winner of Cal's Most Inspirational Player Award and was one of the most popular members ever to play for the Bears.

1991-92: Started 18 games as a freshman and averaged 10.2 ppg and 6.2 rpg ... led Cal and ranked second in the Pac-10 in field goal shooting at 57.6 percent ... averaged 14 ppg and 9.2 rpg during Cal's final eight contests ... scored a season-high 19 points at UCLA and produced a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards vs. Stanford.

1992-93: Was a key member of a Cal team that reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament ... led the Pac-10 in field goal shooting at 59.8 percent ... had three perfect shooting games: 7-7 vs. Oregon, 5-5 vs. Washington State and 4-4 vs. Cal State Northridge ... scored a career-high 23 points (8-12 FG, 7-8 FT) at UCLA ... also scored 20 points vs. Washington State ... had three double-doubles: 13-12 vs. Texas Southern, 19-11 vs. Stanford and 14-11 vs. Oregon State ... named MVP of the San Francisco Pro-Am League the summer of 1993.

1993-94: Played in only three games due to a pair of injuries ... had arthroscopic surgery to repair a hyperextended left knee in early November ... also suffered a pulled hamstring in December ... invited to try out for the U.S. Goodwill Games team in July 1994.

1994-95: Named a preseason candidate for the John Wooden Award, which is given to the national player of the year ... played in Cal's first eight game before being forced out of the lineup with back pain ... did return for four contests in late January-early February ... had surgery for a bulging disk in his lower back in February ... best game came against Minnesota when he scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds in 23 minutes ... shot at least 50 percent from the floor in every game.

1995-96: Played in just four games due to his continuing back injury ... saw action in consecutive games vs. Cincinnati, Minnesota and Illinois in December ... had a team-high 10 rebounds against Minnesota ... also played two minutes in the home finale vs. Stanford.

1996-97: After playing in just 19 of Cal's previous 85 games, played in 29 contests in '96-97 ... with head coach Ben Braun citing his leadership, perseverance and other virtues mainly unrelated to his statistical accomplishments, joined Phoenix Suns guard Kevin Johnson as the only men's basketball players to have their jerseys retired by the school ... started 17 games and Cal went 13-4 with him in the starting lineup ... helped Cal reach the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the second time since 1960 ... had his first double-digit scoring game in two years with 11 points vs. Penn State ... scored 21 points in 20 minutes at Arizona ... pulled down 12 rebounds and had eight points in a win over Stanford ... also had 10 boards in a win at UCLA ... averaged a team-high 6.1 rpg overall and averaged 6.8 rpg in Pac-10 games ... had perhaps the best game of his career in a win at Washington with 19 points (9-12 FG, 1-2 FT) and a career-high 13 rebounds ... also had 13 boards vs. Arizona State and in the NCAA Tournament against Villanova ... led Cal in rebounding 11 times ... blocked a career-high four shots against Oregon State and finished the year with a career-best 24 blocks ... had 10 points, eight rebounds and blocked the potential game-tying shot at the buzzer in a 55-52 win over Princeton in the first round of the NCAA Tournament ... averaged 22.1 minutes per game and play a career-high 39 minutes against Villanova.
