BERKELEY -Cal baseball 2012 letter of intent signee Robbie Tenerowicz has been a staple for the Campolindo baseball program as a middle infielder since his freshman year in 2010, helping his school win three consecutive DFAL and North Coast Section championships.
During the 2012 high school campaign, Tenerowicz, a 6-1, 185-pounder, led his team in nearly every offensive category while starting at second base for the Cougars. In addition to being selected first-team All-DFAL, he was chosen as a member of the Oakland Athletics Area Code team and was a Max Preps All-American.
As a junior, Tenerowicz batted .457 for Campolindo High School with 25 runs, 43 hits, 14 doubles, five home runs and a .792 slugging percentage. In the Perfect Game rankings, he was selected the second-best middle infielder in California, and the 13th top middle infielder in the nation.
"The best two words to describe Robbie (Tenerowicz) are competitive and confident," said Cal hitting coach Tony Arnerich. "He wants to win so badly and it shows in how hard he plays the game. Robbie also is very confident he can compete with anyone, and so far he has proven that he can. He is a proven winner at Campolindo High School where they have won three straight section titles. I believe Robbie has been the catalyst of that program and a leader. When I think of Robbie Tenerowicz I think winner. He is going to make an impact on so many people in our program because he makes everyone else around him a better person and a better player. He is an aggressive hitter that doesn't get cheated. He attacks the ball and reminds me a little bit of Tony Renda."
The schedule for the 2013 Cal baseball team is still being finalized (with an announcement of the schedule expected during the week of Dec. 3-7), with potential games being televised on the Pac-12 Networks, but the Bears will be hosting a three-game series against Michigan, Feb. 15-17 at Evans Diamond to open the 2013 campaign. Cal will also be hosting Pac-12 series versus USC, Oregon, Washington State, Arizona State and Stanford this spring at Evans Diamond.
Cal Baseball fans should make plans to attend the second annual Fan Fest, Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Evans Diamond. Following the Fan Fest festivities, there will be a Blue-Gold intrasquad scrimmage beginning at 1 p.m.
