TUCSON, AZ - University of California freshman second baseman Josh Satin has been named a 2005 Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American, it was announced today by the baseball publication's editor, Lou Pavlovich, Jr.

A redshirt freshman, Satin was earlier selected to the 2005 All-Pac-10 team as he was second on the Bears' squad with a .348 average (7th in Pac-10) and 40 RBI. He also had 77 hits (8th in Pac-10), 15 doubles, a triple and five home runs. Satin was the team-leader with 26 multiple-hit games, had a team-high 15-game hitting streak from Mar. 6-Apr. 2 (24-for-43, 558, 7-2B, 11 RBI), and hit a team-best .434 (33-for-76) with runners in scoring position. He is the first Cal freshman to make freshman All-America and All-Pac-10 honors since Xavier Nady was the National Freshman of the Year in 1998.
