BERKELEY -

Rain in the Bay Area has cancelled the Friday, March 16, 2012 baseball game between Oregon State and California. Two teams have re-scheduled to play a doubleheader Saturday, March 18 beginning at 12 p.m. at Evans Diamond.

No. 18 Cal (USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll) is 11-4 and hosts Oregon State (11-5) in a three-game Pac-12 Conference series. The Golden Bears host the No. 19 (NCBWA) Beavers after having won two of four games last week at Lincoln, Neb. - winning 11-8 in 11 innings, losing 12-5, winning 4-0 and losing 9-5. Despite splitting the series, Cal had several highlights. Junior third baseman Mitch Delfino was 8-for-14 (.571) with two doubles, two home runs and four RBI. Junior left fielder Darrel Matthews was 8-for-20 (.400) with three RBI, and senior catcher Chadd Krist and senior right fielder Danny Oh had seven hits apiece. The Bear pitchers were outstanding in the 4-0 shutout March 11 as six hurlers limited the Cornhuskers to three hits. Sophomore left-hander Kyle Porter's threw four no-hit innings; and Trevor Hildenberger, Matt Evanoff, Keaton Siomkin, Chris Muse-Fisher and Joey Donofrio all kept the Cornhuskers off the scoreboard.

Besides Saturday's doubleheader, the Bears are also scheduled to host Oregon State Sunday, March 18 at 12 p.m. at Evans Diamond, weather permitting.
