Feb. 6, 2013
BERKELEY -Cal baseball fans are invited to join the 2013 Golden Bears baseball team this Sunday, Feb. 10, at Evans Diamond for the second annual Cal Baseball Fan Fest. Fans will get a chance to meet the players, get autographs, run the bases, and test your pitching, fielding and batting skills. Hosted by Cal Athletics and the Cal Baseball Foundation, the gates will open at 11 a.m. (weather permitting) for Fan Fest and admission is free.
Last year more than 600 fans of all ages shared in the on-field fun during the inaugural Fan Fest, and then enjoyed the Blue-Gold intrasquad game. Fans this year will have the same opportunity to get a sneak preview of the 2013 Cal squad which features preseason All-America selection Andrew Knapp, along with returning pitchers Justin Jones (2010 Freshman All-American and 2011 Santa Clara NCAA Super Regional MVP), Kyle Porter (2011 Freshman All-American), first baseman Devon Rodriguez (2011 NCAA Houston Regional MVP) and 11 returnees from the Bears' 2011 College World Series squad.
Fan Fest will run from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., followed by the Blue-Gold intrasquad game at 1 p.m. Tickets for the 2013 season will also be on sale (Cal Athletic Ticket Link), so fans should make plans to join Cal baseball this Sunday.
The 2013 Bears' upcoming spring schedule features 26 home games at Evans Diamond, including hosting a three-game series against Michigan, Feb. 15-17 in Berkeley to open the 2013 campaign. Cal's non-conference schedule also includes a four-game series at UC Irvine, three games at the Houston College Classic (versus Baylor, North Carolina and Houston at Minute Maid Park, home of the Houston Astros) and a four-game home series versus Fresno State. Cal will also be hosting Pac-12 series versus USC, Oregon, Washington State, Arizona State and Stanford this spring at Evans Diamond.
