BERKELEY - After 13 innings of action, Pac-10 rivals California and Stanford are tied at five in a non-conference showdown at Evans Diamond on Monday. The game was halted due to darkness; a final decision on whether the game will be resumed is still to be determined.
Cal, ranked No. 5 in the country, took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. After center fielder Brett Jackson singled and stole second, Kobernaus doubled down the left-field line to knot the contest at four. Kobernaus followed by stealing third and then scoring the go-ahead run on a ground out by right fielder Blake Smith.
However, the Cardinal tied it up in the top of the ninth inning, when pinch-runner Wande Olabisi scored on a two-out single by second baseman Cord Phelps, who has four runs batted in in the game.
In addition to Kobernaus, Jackson, Josh Satin and Michael Brady each have two hits.
Cal has used five pitchers in the game while Stanford is on its 10th pitcher in the contest.
The Bears are back in action on Wednesday, hosting Santa Clara at 2:30 p.m.
