Had 22 appearances and six starts last season after transferring from Cosumnes River College where he was a junior college All-American right-hander...should again be one of the Bears' top long relievers...throws in the mid to upper 80s with a curveball, slider and change-up.
AS A JUNIOR (2007): Finished 3-3 with a 7.75 ERA in 22 appearances...won in relief versus Stanford Apr. 22 (3.0 innings, five hits, two runs, one strikeout)...lost in start at Oregon State Apr. 15 (3.0 innings, three hits, three earned runs, four walks, one strikeout)...got no decision at Arizona Apr. 7 (3.1 innings, three hits, two runs, one walk, three strikeouts)...earned win in start Mar. 23 versus Oral Roberts (career-high 6.0 innings, six hits, one earned run, three strikeouts)...had a career-high four strikeouts in 4.0 innings versus Rhode Island Mar. 17...picked up first Cal win with 3.2 innings in relief at UC Santa Barbara Feb. 26 (one hit, no runs, one walk, one strikeout)...got Cal out of a bases loaded jam with a strikeout versus UC Irvine Feb. 3.
AT COSUMNES RIVER COLLEGE (2005-06): At Cosumnes River College in Sacramento was named a 2006 Northern California All-American and Pitcher of the Year, going 9-1 with a 2.19 ERA...also had 79 strikeouts in 90.1 innings.
HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL: At Christian Brothers High School was first-team all-city (Sacramento) and his team's Most Valuable Pitcher as a senior...was also a four-year letterwinner in soccer, earning first-team all-league honors in 2004...majoring in American studies with an interest in architecture...parents are Manuel and Keri Nunez...born February 22, 1986 in Roseville, Calif.
