BERKELEY - Four Golden Bears - Deborah Maier, Chelsea Reilly, Collin Jarvis and Maxime Chevee - have earned all-region honors from the USTFCCCA for their top-25 finishes at last Saturday's NCAA West Regional Championships. Maier led the pack with her second consecutive runner-up finish at regionals, while Reilly produced a career-best performance by taking ninth. The pair helped the Cal women's team qualify for the NCAA Championships for the first time since 1988. Maier is on the all-region squad for the third time. Jarvis paced the Bear men with his 12th-place showing, up 18 spots from the 2010 season. Chevee took 25th to claim his second all-region award. He was 18th at West Regionals last fall. Both the men's and women's units were fifth at the regional competition. Cal's 26th-ranked women's team received an at-large bid to the national championships, which will be contested on Monday, Nov. 21 in Terre Haute, Ind. However, the men's squad was just left off the list of invitees. The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recognized 450 athletes that earned all-region awards for cross country following last weekend's NCAA regional meets. Runners from member schools that finished in the top 25 individually at one of the nine regional sites earned the honor.
