BERKELEY - All-Americans Deborah Maier and Chelsea Reilly have added All-Academic recognition to their honors list with selection to the USTFCCCA Division I All-Academic team. Maier earned the recognition for the third year in a row, while Reilly gained the status for the first time. The Golden Bear tandem led Cal to an 18th-place team finish at the NCAA Championships in the fall, with Maier placing 11th individually and Reilly 25th. In addition to their All-America awards, both runners also received a spot on the NCAA All-West Region team. Maier owns a 3.82 GPA in political science, and Reilly has a 3.56 GPA as an English major. A total of 104 student-athletes representing the 67 institutions nationwide compose the coaches' association All-Academic group. To qualify for the USTFCCCA team, student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.25 and have either earned USTFCCCA All-America status or finished in the NCAA region's top 15 (or top 10 percent) in 2011.
