The No. 18 California men's cross country team took 22nd place with 477 points at the NCAA Championships hosted by Indiana State University Monday at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center. Cal finished fourth among Pac-10 schools, as Oregon won the national title.

"We're disappointed that we didn't do better than we did last year," said Cal head coach Tony Sandoval. "We ran so hard at regionals that we weren't able to come back after that. We still have one of the better distance programs in the country and we're very proud of that."

Highlighting the Bears' success was Yosef Ghebray. Participating in his final cross country race at Cal, Ghebray toured the course in 30:10 to take 36th. Ghebray's 36th-place finish was good enough for him to earn All-America honors. Cal's next best finisher was junior Michael Coe who placed 51st with a time of 30:29. Oregon's Galen Rupp won the individual title in 29:22.4.

Oregon won the team title with 93 points, with Iona taking second (147 points) and Stanford following in third (227 points).
