SEATTLE, Wash. - A handful of personal bests and the fastest men's 4x400-meter relay since 2009 highlighted Cal's efforts on the second day of the Husky Classic Saturday, the Golden Bears' final competition before the MSPF Championships in two weeks at the same Dempsey Indoor Facility.
Freshman Ethan Cochran finished fourth in the shot put with a mark of 55-3.50, nearly three feet further than when went at the season-opening Cherry & Silver Invitational last month.
Two Bears advanced to the final of the men's 60 meters - Tom Blocker and Dash Oliver - with Oliver coming through with a PR 6.89 to take ninth. In the 4x400-meter relay, the quartet of Blocker and freshmen Randy Bermea, Elliot Surovell and Kyle Ezold claimed second in 3:15.60.
The highest individual finish for the women was third by Amanda Hunter in the triple jump. In addition, the 4x400 relay of Taylor Lawson, Charnell Price, Arielle Stevenson and Alima Kamara also placed third in 3:48.77.
Among the PRs set were a 9:47.41 by Taylor Dutch in the women's 3000 meters and 17-10.75 by multi-event athlete Jaci Powell in the women's long jump.
