AS A JUNIOR IN 2002-03: Had Cal's fastest time of season (58.93) in 400mH at NCAA Western Regionals...finished eighth (59.37) in 400mH at Mt. SAC Relays...posted third-place finish with NCAA regional qualifying time (1:00.38) in 400mH at Yellow Jacket Invite...anchored 4x400m relay team (3:38.38) that set Cal's season-best time at Mt. SAC Relays...ran Cal's third best time (57.71) in 400m at Stanford Invite.
AS A SOPHOMORE IN 2001-02: Qualified for the Pac-10 Championships and placed eighth in the 400mH (1:01.45)...had Cal's best performance of the season in the 400mH (59.80) at the Modesto Relays...won the 400mH three times, at the USC Invitational (1:01.28), UC Davis Quadrangular (1:01.20) and Big Meet (1:00.05).
AS A FRESHMAN IN 2000-01: Qualified for the Pac-10 Championships in the 400mH, but didn't advance past the preliminaries... established a then-PR in the 400mH of 1:01.63 at the California-Nevada State Meet, also a team-best for the season...placed second at the Big Meet in the 400mH (1:02.27).
HIGH SCHOOL: Four-time team MVP and Athlete of the Year at Silver Creek High School...set her 400m PR of 55.81 as a freshman and her 300mH PR of 43.21 as a senior...also competed on the school's cross country team for four years...as a freshman in 1997, she won the CCS cross country championship.
PERSONAL: Deanna Catherine Slaton was born Jan. 30, 1982, in San Jose, CA...parents are Frank and Sandy Slaton...her father has coached her in track at Silver Creek High School and at the Classic Track Club...her sister, Danielle, plays professional soccer and was a member of the 2000 U.S. Olympic team...mass communication major.
