05/08/2012 Bears Set for Pac-12 ChampionshipsCal Visits Hayward Field for Weekend Meet Full of National Powers Recent graduate Alison Greggor, who ranks among Cal's all-time top 10 in the 3000m, 5000m and 10,000m, is in her first year as a volunteer assistant coach for the Bears. As a senior in 2011, she finished third in the women's 10K at the Pac-10 Championships and qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds in the 5000. In addition, she received Cal's Neufeld Scholar-Athlete Award for having the highest GPA among the school's graduating student-athletes and won an Oscar Geballe Postgraduate Scholarship, which she plans use toward earning a Ph.D. in animal behavior. Greggor was a double major at Cal, earning degrees in Spanish and psychology. Greggor finished her Cal career with bests of 9:26.58 in the 3000m, 16:16.86 in the 5000m and 34:37.01 in the 10,000m. As a sophomore in 2009, Greggor's PR in the 10,000 earned her a berth to the NCAA Championships and was the fastest for a Bear in the event since 1993. A 2006 graduate of San Marin HS in Novato, Calif., Greggory was a four-time conference champion in cross country. |
