Nine Bears on USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

Aug. 7, 2008

BERKELEY - Nine members of the California track and field team earned spots on the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's Division I All-Academic team. The four members from the men's team were Michael Coe, Kari Karlsson, Mark Matusak and Matthew Miller. The five student-athletes from the women's squad were Kayla Dixon, Cyrena Giordano, Kristen Meister, Theresa Raub and Francesca Weems.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA's Men's and Women's Division I All-Academic teams, one must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 and obtain an NCAA automatic or provisional qualifying mark for the most recent indoor championships or an outdoor regional qualifying mark in their respective event.

This marks the second straight year that Coe, Matusak and Miller made the USTFCCA All-Academic team. The three also made the Pac-10 All-Academic team in cross country last fall, with Matusak making the second team and Miller and Coe earning honorable-mention status.
