Two additional track and field athletes-Whitney Schmucker and Ozzie Pina-have signed on to compete for the University of California, director of track and field Chris Huffins announced today.

Schmucker is a transfer from Georgetown University, but hails from La Jolla, Calif. Last season, she only competed indoors due to injury, and has four years of outdoor track and field eligibility available. A product of La Jolla High School, she turned in a third-place finish in the 800m at the California state meet and finished second in that event at the USA Track and Field Junior Championships last June. Schmucker has best times of 2:09.20 in the 800m and 55.70 in the 400m.

Pina is also an incoming transfer from Mt. San Antonio Junior College. At Mt. SAC, Pina was both the state junior college 1500m champion (3:53.50) and cross country four-mile champ. Pina boasts a best time of 14:27 in the 5000m and will contribute on the Golden Bears' cross country team, as well. Pina, from Lakewood, Calif., graduated from Long Beach Poly High School.
