RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil - California All-American Alysia Johnson ran a 2:02.57 in the women's 800-meter run today to place sixth in the Pan Am Games final at Joao Havelange Stadium.

Canada's Diane Cummins won the Pan Am gold with a time of 1:59.75, Colombia's Rosibel Garcia Mena took the silver with a 2:00.02 and Cuba's Zulia Calatayud claimed the bronze in 2:00.34.

Johnson, who will be a senior at Cal in 2007-08, is the current champion in the U.S. outdoor, NCAA outdoor and NCAA indoor 800 events.

Other Golden Bears competing in Rio 2007 include Inika McPherson, a junior in 2007-08 who will compete in the women's high jump final on Wednesday at 1:57 p.m. PT, and Cal alumna Kristin Heaston, who will vie for the women's shot put in the final at 12 p.m. PT on Friday.
